Nano-manufacturing processes for reconstruction of tissue barriers and generation of uniform organoids

Stem cell technology has emerged as a powerful tool on the way to ultimate human health and it has been utilized in various biomedical fields  including regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, and in vitro physiological model systems.  The key of stem cell technology is guiding the stem cells to have in vivo physiological cellular phenotype, functions, and behaviors.  Among the various approaches to guide the stem cell fate and behaviors, providing the in vivo-like microenvironments to the stem cells  based on the nano-/micro manufacturing processes has been highlighted as a promising method for the last decades. Though the nano-/micro- manufacturing processes have been greatly contributed to developing functional and biomimetic culture scaffolds, however, it is still difficult but desired to develop an advanced culture...

Recent Developments in Surrogate Modeling

In today's era of large-scale simulations and experiments, the demand for efficient computational models has seen significant growth. Surrogate modeling, a technique used to approximate expensive models or simulations with simpler, data-driven models, plays an essential role in this arena. This presentation focuses on the most recent...

Development of NURI launch vehicle and cryogenics

The KSLV-II (Korea Space Launch Vehicle-II) Nuri launched on June 21st, 2022. The Nuri vehicle used kerosene as fuel and the cryogenic liquid oxygen as oxidant. The management cryogenic liquid oxygen is required during the development of the NURI. Such as leveling the liquid oxygen tank, natural circulation...

Nanoscale transport phenomena driven by solute or temperature difference

In this talk, I will present nanoscale transport phenomena driven by solute or temperature difference. Firstly, I will demonstrate that the liquid flow can be generated by various types of solutes within nanochannels. The underlying mechanism for interfacially driven flow is closely associated with the molecular interactions between...

다중 이동방식이 가능한 로봇

Key Words: 이동 로봇, 다중 이동방식 Abstract Numerous mobile robots specialize in one form of locomotion, whereas very few robots can perform complex locomotion tasks that combine multiple locomotion methods. A robot equipped with multiple locomotion mechanisms can not only traverse challenging environments where a single-modal locomotion...

Open-source autonomous driving software and its research challenges

Open-source autonomous driving software and its research challenges   Recently, an open-source autonomous driving stack called Autoware has spread widely, and the number of Autoware-enabled vehicles is increasing. Autoware is currently being used in more than 30 vehicles in more than 20 countries by more than 100...

Detection technology of airborne bioagents for health and environment

This presentation explores bioaerosols, defined as airborne biological particulate matter containing a variety of allergens such as viruses, bacteria, fungi, pollen, house dust mites, and dander. Bioaerosols can cause a variety of infectious and environmental diseases, including atopic dermatitis, opportunistic infections, SARS, novel influenza, and...

Nature-Inspired Micro Elctro-Mechanical Systems

Abstract: Over the course of 3.5 billion years of evolution, living organisms have developed numerous functional structures. Notable examples include the superhydrophobic surfaces of micro/nano-structured leaves, the non-reflective surfaces of moth eyes, and the highly sensitive sensory organs of spiders. Understanding and mimicking these functional...

The future of mobility materials

With the recent emergence of future mobility developments such as Urban Air Mobility (UAM), there has been an increasing interest in the development of materials suitable for these advancements. What might the specific requirements be for materials used in future mobility? Firstly, lightweight materials will be...

Applications of CFD in designing engineering objects

When shape optimization of engineering objects is conducted in the aerodynamic prospective, it is necessary to examine objects’ performance at various designs. One of the most widely used shape design methods in this purpose is to parameterize the given shape (frequently called the baseline design or...
