Abstract

Live-line maintenance works for power transmission lines are very dangerous due to the dangers of
high voltage and the risks of falling from heights. For this reason, there has been an increasing
manpower shortage in this field and new active techniques using innovative robots have been required.
This keynote speech will present our over ten years’ experience in developing live-line maintenance
robots from insulator robots to a recent and ongoing drone.
