Target Tracking in Autonomous Ground Vehicle

Autonomous driving is a technology that recognizes the external environment and driver’s state of the vehicle without driver manipulation, and controls the vehicle based on the recognized information so that it can drive itself to its destination. Autonomous driving technology is regarded as the core of future mobility technology to the extent that not only traditional automobile manufacturers but also world-leading IT companies actively participate in the development. Among the technologies for recognizing the external environment, the target tracking method to estimate the number of targets and the trajectory status of the targets is essential. This speech is about the target tracking methods, shows the problems that arise when the methods are applied to actual vehicles and develop, and finally, has a discussion the matters necessary for higher autonomous driving.
